The first photo taken at 10:15 p.m. CDT on May 9 features Hale-Bopp and the one-day old crescent moon setting side-by-side and casting their reflections in Lake Oahe near Spring Creek resort about 15 miles north of Pierre, South Dakota. The final two shots, taken around 10:30 p.m. on May 9 show a few of the trees along Lake Oahe's shoreline, temporarily submerged by above-normal spring runoff. All photos were taken at f 1.8, using 25 to 35-second exposures on Kodak Royal Gold 1000 film.
