Photo taken on 29 March 1997 at 9:45 pm CST by Mark Stafford and Kay Brown in Arma, KS. This is from our very first roll of comet photos. We were pleased; the ion tail does not show up when scanned. This was when Comet Hale-Bopp was at it's brightest, ~ -1.0 magnitude. We used a Canon EOS 35mm camera with a 200mm lens. The exposure was 15 sec mounted on a tripod with no tracking. One year ago we were watching Comet Hyakutake!
