The first image of Hale-Bopp was taken with an 8" f1.5 Celestron/Epoch Schmidt camera while the second image was taken with a Pentax 6x7 camera with a 90mm lens. Both were taken at Red Rock Canyon Park, CA. The comet's ion tail seemed noticibly fainter than it was two weeks ago. In fact I was unable to detect it visually however, it does reveal itself in a pair of 10x70 binoculars as well as in these two photographs. The dust tail on the other hand appeared broad and dominant.
