1. Hale-Bopp on Wednesday morning, Feb 26 1997 at 4:30 a.m. This first one is a wide field view through a normal camera lens - 1 minute at f/2.8 and Fuji 1600 color print film.
2. Hale-Bopp image taken through a 12.5" Newtonian at prime focus (f/4) for 30 seconds. Fuji 1600 again. The moon was a waning gibbous at the time, so sky background was a problem. In the wide angle shot, the trees in the foreground show up nicely illuminated by moonlight. The original of this close-up shows the gas (bluish) and dust (yellow-white) tails of the comet well.
