Comet Hale-Bopp during twilight (narrow-field photo)

March 18, 1997 This photograph of Comet Hale-Bopp was taken with a 300mm lens and a 35mm camera. The field of view is of approximately 7 degrees, roughly the same area you view when looking at the comet through a pair of binoculars. The photo was taken during morning twilight from Makapuu beach, Oahu, Hawaii. The dark area in the bottom left corner is a cloud. From March 20, the comet will be easier to see in the evening sky than in the morning sky.
