The base of the ejecta deposit is marked by the orange wavy line in the middle of the rock face. The base is especially rich in altered glass that has a high iron content that when weathered gives the orange color. This is the location of the initial discovery of Chicxulub ejecta in this region by Pope and Ocampo in 1991.
