Details of Galileo Data Rights Policy

This image is part of the data acquired by the NASA/JPL Galileo Mission and is being placed on the World Wide Web so that all individuals can share in the excitement of exploration. Galileo scientists are in the process of analyzing the data and preparing their results for publication.

Galileo Project Data Rights Policy contains a validation period (one year after the receipt of the last data from each orbit) before the data are released to the general scientific community for analysis, during which time Galileo team members may complete the

"calibration and validation of their data and ...publish their preliminary scientific analyses."

Once this is accomplished (within one year of the receipt of an orbit's last data), the images and related data will be made available through the Planetary Data System for analysis by the general scientific community. Galileo Mission scientists and engineers hope that you enjoy sharing the excitement of these images with us.
