We've Only Scratched the Surface
This detail of Europa's icy surface shows a prominent double ridge cutting
across the landscape. Even though the ridge is over 1.6 miles wide, it stands
only about 330 yards high, a mere scratch on an otherwise glass-like landscape.
How can a moon that appears to be so active, be so smooth? Such questions
intrigue and inspire us as we continue to explore Europa.
