Global Positioning System Unit - Turbo Rogue
JPL developed the original version this high precision ground GPS receiver, which was built and is sold by an industrial partner, Allen Osborne and Associates. Receivers like this one have been deployed worldwide for precise (few-millimeter) monitoring of crustal motion and tectonic activity related to earthquakes.
JPL has also developed a new line of space flight GPS receivers for precise space navigation of satellites and remote sensing applications. The first of JPL's space GPS receivers were built at JPL and flew successfully onboard the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) in February 2000. Subsequent JPL GPS space receivers will fly on the JASON, ICESAT, FEDSAT, VCL and GRACE missions.
