Cryo/Thermal EngineeringOne aspect of JPL's work in Cryo/Thermal Engineering is focused towards applying state-of-the-art cryogenic and thermodynamic technologies to a variety of demanding space applications. Activities include cryo/thermal system design for advanced instruments, cryo/thermal hardware development and testing, and R&D of advanced thermal and cryogenic technologies. Example technologies include high efficiency insulation systems, high thermal conductivity composites, loop heat pipes, passive multistage cryogenic radiators, and gas compression technologies for use on other planets. Details of legacy cryo/thermal engineering activieties are provided through the links on the left sidebar or by clicking on the above photos. |
