Cassini's Electrical Power Supply

Since it is not practical for a spacecraft to use solar panels for electrical power at Saturn because of diminished sunlight, electrical power (currently about 720 Watts) is supplied by three radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTG) with no moving parts. In the spacecraft image, notice the baffles that direct some of the RTG's radiant heat into the spacecraft to help maintain proper thermal conditions.

Refer to this page for more information about Cassini's RTGs.
