Cassini's Thermal Control Louvers

Thermal control louvers, installed on spacecraft electronics bays and on some instruments and subsystems, operate automatically. Based on a simple bi-metallic device not unlike that in a houshold thermostat, the louvers open to release thermal radiation to deep space, or close to retain it within the spacecraft.
