Bailey Images of Comet Hale-Bopp

These two striking images were photographed by Tom Bailey, a member of the Des Moines Astronomical Society. They were taken on February 15, 1997 at 5:00am central time at the Ashton-Wildwood Observatory near Baxter, Iowa.

The first image is a 10 minute exposure taken with a 16" Newtonian. Fugi 800 film was used.

The second image is a 10 minute exposure taken with a guided 500mm lens. Fugi 800 film was used.
