The Hale-Bopp comet above the Swiss plain. The lights visible in the plain are, from left to right, the cities of Neuchatel (far left), Thun, Bern (left of the comet), Interlaken (foreground) and Soleure. The black line at the horizon, in the center and in the right side of the picture, is the Jura mountains, at 120 km distance.
Lens: 29 mm at f/2.8. Exposure time 2 minutes (camera on tripod). Film Fujichrome Provia 1600 (slide) developed at 800 ASA.
