First photo was taken on Technical Pan 2415 with an 8" f/1.5 Schmidt-Camera using a Wratten 25A filter. Exposure was ten minutes. Second photo was taken with an Olumpus OM-1 camera with a 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko lens at f/1.8 for ten minutes with a deep sky filter. The Olympus camera was piggybacked on the Schmidt-Camera and both photos were taken simultaneously. More of the tail seems to be visible in the Olympus shot.

Third image: B-W negative of the comet initial 4 deg with details in inner gas tail. A fresh cloud of plasma has been detached just few hours before this image was taken. Frame obtained with the 2.8/180mm lens, CCD and narrow-band H2O+ filter.

These two images of C/1996 B2 Hyakutake were taken under similar observing conditions. A transitory outburst is clearly visible on April 15.85 Our filter was the RG 830 e=3 mm (Gunn 6). The scale was 222 km/pixel on April 15, and 252 km/pixel on April 18. The exposure duration was 60 seconds on April 15, and 110 seconds on April 18. North is up.

Second image is a 5 minute exposure taken at 02:30 utc with 35mm f3.5 lens using same film. The ccd images were all taken through cg11 f6.3 telescope with st5 ccd at -25C. Third image is a 5 sec. exp taken at 03:03utc it shows leading "bar shape" of comet Fourth image is a 0.5 sec. exp. taken at 03:25utc it is false color to show interior. Fifth image is a 10x10=100 sec exp. taken at 03:19 utc Sixth is the same as hatf042 except false color.

The comet tail comes out quite nicely - considering the modest equipment. 200mm lens f/3.5 1000 ASA Ektar Kodak film. 6 minutes guided exposure (just before the comet set behind a tree). The photo was then corrected for flat field using Photoshop.
