Taken Sunday Night, March 30, 1997 with a Canon A-1 35 mm camera, and a Canon 70-210 mm Zoom lens with 3200 ASA B&W film with aperature open all the way at f/4.0, exposed about 4 seconds. Scanned on a Minolta film scanner at high resolution. The viewing that night was incredible. The image has been enhanced to show different layers of the comet (using Photoshop) and more of the starry background. The inset is the image without enhancement.

The second image of the Hale-Bopp comet was scanned as a color image (even though the film was black and white) and adjusted for red. Kinda neat!
