On September 24, 1990, Stuart Wilber discovered a giant white spot on Saturn using a 10-inch reflector at Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Hubble Space Telescope took this image on November 9, 1990, and the white spot had spread out around the planet. This was the most spectacular eruption on Saturn since 1933.
