Animated version of the mast deploying in space. Includes "flip-over" of outboard antenna. |
Quicktime: (1.6Mb) |
The actual mast beginning to deploy from its canister in the Shuttle payload bay. |
Quicktime: (2.3Mb) |
The mast deploys in this footage from space. |
Quicktime: (1.6Mb) |
With mapping operations complete, the mast retracts into Shuttle Endeavour's payload bay. |
Quicktime: (1Mb) |
Astronaut Gerhard Thiele takes you on a tour of Shuttle Endeavour's cargo bay and the SRTM hardware. |

San Andreas Fault Fly-Over: This animation starts on the San Andreas Fault just southeast of Palmdale, vistble as the bright area at the rith edge. We then travel west along the fault, passing Lake Palmdale, Elizabeth Lake, and endomg at Quail Lake, all occupying depressions in the fault zone. |
Quicktime: (927kb) |
Garlock Fault Fly-Over: The animation starts above the Mojave Desert, California with a view of Lancaster and Palmdale (bright areas at bottoMb). The San Andreas Fault forms the left edge of the desert and the Garlock Fault forms the right edge. Next, we sweep down to the area around Red Rock Canyon and fly west along the Garlock Fault, passing over the low relief of Tehachapi Pass and ending just past Castaic Lake where Interstate 5 goes through Tejon Pass. |
Quicktime: (1.6Mb) |
New York Fly-Over: First you appear to fly south over northern New York State and down the Mohawk Valley in this portion of the New York Fly-Over. SRTM Project Scientist Dr. Mike Kobrick narrates. |
